Greetings and Welcome to Midway Alternative High School
and The Youth Center of the High Plains
We invite you to look over our web site and explore the various programs C.I.S.D.'s alternative school has to  offer. Several programs are housed at the Midway campus. Alternative education classes, G.E.D. Classes, and Nova Net classes are a few examples of what we offer.
Midway is a school of choice.  It provides an opportunity for students to complete required course work necessary for high school graduation.  Students submit a completed application for consideration of admittance.  Enrollment is relatively small and the number of applicants could exceed the number of available spaces.  Midway is an extension of CISD's two other high schools.  Once students complete all graduation requirements, their records are sent back to their home campuse from which they will receive their diploma.  Graduating seniors have the right to return to thier home campus to take part in all graduation activities.

We are currently taking applications for the 2014-2015 school year.  To be considered for Midway, you must meet the following requirments:

  • Be classified a junior or senior in the 2014-2015 school year
  • Currently attend either Canyon HS or Randall HS
  • Meet at least one at-risk indicator on pg. 7-8 of application.  See your current counselor to see if you meet this indicator.
You may pick up an application from your school counselor or print if from here. Midway Application  After you have completed an application and have met all 3 requirements for consideration, then an interview will be set up with the counselor .  For detailed information on the interview process please click here During the interview.
Discipline Alternative Education Program (D.A.E.P.) classes are also located on the Midway campus. A new dress code for D.A.E.P. students will be in effect beginning the first day of classes.
The Youth Center of the High Plains is a Juvenile Residential Detention Center. The Center provides placement for juveniles of the panhandle of Texas with few placements from southern Texas.
