Amberly graduated from West Texas State University in 1989 with a B.S in Elementary Education with a Reading concentration. She obtained ESL certification in 1993. She began her teaching career in Hereford as a 1st grade teacher. She then taught 1st grade for 2 years in Dumas Isd. She moved to Lubbock and taught 5 years in Title I for 5 years. She completed Dyslexia Therapist training with Scotish Rite in Lubbock in 2000. She taught in New York State for two years before returning to Canyon. She has taught Dyslexia and Reading intervention for the past 8 years in Canyon ISD. She is married and has two boys ages 11 and 6. She loves singing with her husband and watching  NASCAR.
