Canyon High School senior Will Walker has been elected Governor of the Texas and Oklahoma Key Club District. This district has over 15,000 members and is the second largest in the international organization.

Fourteen Randall High School choir students were named to the 2007 All-District Choir. Stormie Luetkahans and Jesse Melson were named 1st chairs in Alto 1 and Tenor 2 respectively. Also selected were Lindsay Parker, Megan Wilhelm, Lauren Perkins, Stephanie Gallegos, Chelsie Scott, Collin Hall, Jacob Bingham, Steven Veteto, Landon Brantley, Andrew Fields, Wesley Huseman and Ravi Knutson.

The Canyon High School Top 10 Key Club members are selected for outstanding community service hours. For September, they are are Alisha Caldwell (19 hours), Erin Chucovich (15), Partick Kagan (12), Craig Spalding (12), Ellie Ward (12), Erica Hinders (8), Katie Couzzourt (8), Sarah McConnell (7), Taylor Patton (7), Thadd Handlon (7) and Kory Tucker (7).

Nineteen Canyon High School students have been named to the All-District Choir. Those making 1st Chair are Leah Perkins, Soprano 1; Katy Say, Soprano 2; and Josiah Robinson, Bass 2. Additional All-district Choir members from CHS are Dava Eilert, Ashley Edwards, Daniell Gerber, Tracie Byrd, Taylor Mayberry, Haly Cordell, Laci Pruitt, Allie Bryan, Aubrey Pedigo, Drew Zielenski, Hunger Beighle, Bran Warren, Trey Andrews, John Wilson, Colin Stradley, Jacob Batenhorst and Ben Venable.

The Canyon Jr. High School Band, under the direction of Mike Ellis, has been selected winner of the Association of Texas Small School Bands Class CC 2007 Outstanding Performance Series. Their winning performance was “Ghost Fleet” by Robert Sheldon. The band was also runner-up in the concert selections category for “They Led My Lord Away” by Adoniram J. Gordon and Fred Allen. |

Marsha Bigham, Canyon High School Teacher who retired in May 2007, has received one of 15 Outstanding Teachers of the Humanities Awards for 2006-2007 from Humanities Texas. The organization is the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. |

Canyon ISD Transportation Drivers, Tonya Swim, Ron Lynch and Blaine Lewallen, drove District buses to San Antonio and on to McAllen, Texas to assist with Hurricane Dean evacuation efforts.
