Student Successes


Canyon ISD has many student successes districtwide.   The successes listed are students who competed at the state or national levels.


Canyon High School Senior Brie Mowry placed 6th at the State Texas High School Powerlifting Meet.  Brie is coached by Billy Rushing.


Canyon High School Senior Kalenigh Rodarte-Suto competed at the FCCLA State competition.   Carrie-Anne Stanglin is the culinary art instructor of Canyon ISD.


Jacob Brue tied for 5th place individual part of the State UIL Computer Science competition.  Jacob’s teacher is Corina Srygley.

Senior Natalie Davis is the first Canyon High School student to submit her work for the UIL Theatrical Design Contest.  Natalie’s theatre teacher is Kylie Howell.

RHS Girls Wrestling

Randall High School Girls Wrestling Team placed 4th at the state wrestling tournament. Wrestlers are coached by Head Coach David Quirino, Eric Koontz, Mark Portner, and Robert Scott. 

CHS Speech State Qualifiers

Canyon High School had several Speech and Debate students qualify for the state competition during the past few months.  Speech and Debate students are instructed by Stefanie Rodarto-Suto.

RHS TAFE State Competitors

Randall High School’s Texas Association of Future Educators Randall Chapter won a Blue Ribbon at the TAFE State Competition.  Sponsors are Jodi Hooten and Matthew Driver.

RHS Power Lifters

Randall High School had four powerlifters compete at the State Texas High School Powerlifting Meet.  Powerlifters are coached by Grady Benton.

CHS Girls Track Team

Canyon High School girls track team are the 4A State Champions.  The girls are coached by Head Coach Ray Baca, Mary Adams, and Matt Spears.

RHS Theatrical Design Students

Randall High School had 4 students compete in the Theatrical Design Contest for UIL.  Emmy Estes is the RHS sponsor.

CHS boys track

Canyon High School Boys Track team competed at the State Track Tournament in Austin.  The boys track team are coached by Cade Wartes and Wes Kirton.

CHS Journalism Students

Canyon High School had three journalism students competed at the State UIL Meet on May 3rd.  Students were also recognized at both online newspaper and yearbook earned Interscholastic League Press Conference (ILPC) Bronze Star Awards.  The newspaper was recognized as a national finalist for the National Scholastic Press Association Pacemaker Award. Journalism instructor is Laura Smith.

State VASE Students

Randall High School had four students competed in the State VASE (Visual Arts Scholastic Event) competition.  

State Champs Boys Wrestling

Randall High School Boys Wrestling team are the 2019 5A State Champions. This is Randall’s 4th State Wrestling Championship. Wrestlers are coached by Head Coach David Quirino, Eric Koontz, Mark Portner, and Robert Scott.

Randall One Act Play

Randall High School’s One-Act Play wins State Championship. Students enacted the “Never the Sinner” play that follows the true story of two men in Chicago back in 1924.

RHS TSA Awards Picture

Randall High School CTE students competed at the state contest hosted by Texas Technology Student Association. Students showcased their mill and cabinetmaking work, construction technology, and welding. Ernie Sheets is the sponsor.

CHS Band

Canyon High School Soaring Pride Marching Band placed 4th at the 4A State Competition.


Canyon High School Tennis Team finished 4A State Runner-ups.


Randall High School Volleyball competed at the 5A State Tournament.

RHS Boys Cross Country

The Randall High School Boys Cross Country placed 14th at the State 5A Meet.


Randall High School Girls Cross Country had two individual competitors run at the 5A State Meet.

Canyon High School Boy Cross Country place 5th at the 4A State Cross Country Meet.

CHS Girls CC State Champs

Canyon High School Girls Cross Country are the 4A State Champions.
