Canyon ISD has a student-centered, active, and productive Career and Technical Education program. CTE courses are arranged around the sixteen career clusters and numerous programs of study. The CISD counseling and guidance programs are very involved in helping students discover their career interests and how to proceed to achieve their goals.
Canyon ISD’s mission for Career and Technical Education is to ensure students develop rigorous academic skills and applicable technical skills through motivating, relevant, and practical experiences designed to prepare students for success beyond high school.
Canyon ISD offers twelve of the sixteen national career clusters. 7th-12th grade counselors will visit with students about their career interests to help them determine which program of study best meets their future career goals. CISD Career and Technical Education courses are arranged in a sequence within these career clusters and within programs of study. Click on the career cluster icons below to gather more information on each cluster and the programs of study.
Canyon ISD students have an opportunity to choose to follow a Career Plan of Study based on a coherent sequence of courses. Counselors, teachers, and administrators will be visiting with students as they create their 4-year high school plans to guide them from 8th grade through their first year of postsecondary study or work.
